abs_int_diff

abs_int_diff(x: tuple[int, ...], y: tuple[int, ...])

Returns the smallest number of half-steps between two tonal primitives.

Examples

>>> abs_int_diff((0,1,0),(0,11,0))
2

>>> abs_int_diff((0,1,0),(6,11,-1))
2

The count is a magnitude even when the nearest spelling of the difference is a negative interval (C to B double-sharp is a doubly diminished second):

>>> abs_int_diff((0, 0), (6, 1))
1
